Yep, that definitely makes grip from camera much more secure...
But compact cameras would also need more size.

Myself I don't need one because handtrap comes with Minolta's BP-400 Battery grip which I haven't taken off since putting it to camera. (originally I intended to use it as counterweight when using external flash)

Iused that sort of strap on my NIKON SLR's love em. Been thinking of getting a couple more. Would be nice to have on my 7590.
