It is a simple question:

There are two lenses I am looking at on eBay, which are:

Tamron AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 LD MACRO 1:2 Lens

Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro Lens

My intention is to use them for photographing the moon (I am a beginner so I am starting with 300mm), the advice I need is, which lens should I go for?

If it helps, my Camera is a Nikon D50.

Please answer a.s.a.p as one of the auctions finishes in 6 hours. (16/5/2006)

Edit 6 hours later>

Well I lost both the auctions, but im still looking for a lens so please give me your input and advice on what to go for in the 300mm range.

I have seen new 500mm lenses on eBay.com going for £70-90, but im working on the presumption that their crap because of the price.

Here is an example:

Or maybe

Should I buy one, should I not?, what should I go for?

Ain't itfantastic being broke!

I have the Tamron and am very happy with the pics, some say the Sigma are built better, but my performs well and feels solid. That being said, any differences in these lenses in minuscule. Go for the one sold by the most reputable dealer. Make sure you check the shipping fee and make sure it has the full warranty.

Thank you in advance for your help.
The Moon needs a bit more length than 300mm, but it is a start, how close will you be :G284,000 miles try hitching a lift on the next shuttle :G
