Default data transfer

hi im new to this so do forgive ,ive recently picked up a second hand fuji mx-1200 ,i know its a couple of years old and bottom range but is there any way i can improve on the data transfer camera to pc,every time i want to acquire a separate picture i have to reopen camera can i not acquire more than 1 at a time?is there any other software available?camera connected via serial port com1,many thanks for any repies :

If your having problems with getting pictures from the camera to PC I would suggest getting a card reader. I checked here at steves on your camera and it looks like it uses smartmedia cards. I bought a SimpleTech card reader at Circuit City for 24 bucks that does both smartmedia and compact flash. It would be way way faster than your old serial connection, but you do have to have USB port on your computer. It then acts like another hard drive and you can just drag and drop to your hard drive either one picture or as many as you want. I just copy all pictures to my hard drive. I use my camera to delete the photos off my card. Hope that helps.
