I am planning to buy a HP R707, but I would like to know first if the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries it uses are replaceable with normal (standard) batteries.

What if, one day, support and supply for these Li-Ion batts. is discontinued?

The R707 uses a3.7V 1050mAh R07 Li-ion battery specific toHP cameras.Spare batteries can be purchasedfrom selected retailers or though the purchase of the R-Series Docking Station which can charge both the camera and an additionalbattery supplied.

Although I would recommend using only HP certified batteries you can also use a Duracell CP-1 Disposable Battery.

Thanks for your answer.

In the meantime, I've already bought the HP R707 camera, which I find outstanding at all parameters.

There is one more question about it:

if making photos indoors, can I remove the Li-ion battery and use the camera only with the AC adapter plugged in to spare the battery (just like I use the laptop) ?
