The camera will turn on, but then show the "work" light, and just drain batteries like crazy. I think it may be because I uplugged it from my PC without ending the device first in windows. symptoms include: heating up, orange light on, and the camera freezes.
I tried to dump 55 pictures and one small movie off the camera to the PC, but it didnt work, and now its not even letting ym see viewfinder/date & time, settings, etc. Help please! Forum noobie. edit: after doing a SD card swap, I found out that the camera freezes with one specific card. Is there any way to determine if the card is stuffed? I know the camera works with another SD card, but not the sandisk one it was working with a couple days ago. can I format it? (its only a 128 mb card, and I can stand the loss of the pictures). |

Hi,
Try running the freeDigital Photo Recovery Download at the bottom of this page http://www.artplus.hr/ That may recover your pics, then try to format the card, sounds as if it's corrupted in some way. If you can format the card chances are it will be OK, if not it may mean a write off. Good luck. ... Jack |

You can usually format any card in windows, but the practice isn't recommended, it's best to let the camera format the card, try that. If no go ...tryformatting another card to see if the issue is with the card or the camera. ... Jack |

Clutching at straws now, not trying to insult your intelligence, but has the card lock slider been inadvertently applied ... I do know of one person who had this problem, I'd slide it on/off a couple of times to see if it makes a difference. If not then I'd say that card is a write - off.

http://www.cnetx.com/format/download.asp I did a google search, for means of formatting a memory card out of camera, this thread suggested that the software " Flashformat" downloadable above ...has been known to cure a similar problem. Since the card is unusable in it's present state, you've nothing to lose by trying it. If it does the trick I'd still reformat in the camera before using it again. Hope it helps, no further ideas. ... Jack http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?i=106470&thread=7 Edit. think you may need a \PDA to use the above software. |
