I have had this problem once before and sent the camera in for servicing. Now that it is out of warranty, it has of course happened again.
If you happen to grab the camera incorrectly when removing it from your pocket for example, and press the on switch, the camera lens will extend automatically (retracted when turned off). If there is not enough room for full extension, the gears or some other type of mechanical linkage will slip. The end result is that when you go to use your camera, what you see through the optical display is not in synch with what will actually be in the pic (the digital display, however, still works, although I prefer not to use this too often as it is a battery hog).
Has anyone else had this problem?
Can anyone advise how I can get a service manual for this camera. I do not plan to spend the $190 Can everytime this happens in the future.
