What settings should I use to get a good picture taken fromabout50 feet away. All the pictures I took are dark. I tried no flash, but the pictures were blurry.

Even with a good auxillary slave flash you can not get enough light out to 50 feet to take a well exposed photo. But 35 to 40 feet is very realistic when using a goodslave flash.

Here is an example that was taken at 40 feet, using an ISO setting of 400. So you can see that it can be done.

That photo was taken using the slave flash.
