You can't do it in the camera sorry ... the file naming is HPIMxxxx.jpg so it can only number from 0001 to 9999 before it resets back to 0001 again. There are a number of graphic viewing utilities that can batch rename files according to their creation date or a user selectable file mask. In the past I have used PIE to rename files.

but in many digital cameras there is possibility to change thet. For example: if in my camera pictures is like HPIMxxxx.jpg
So..in other cameras i can do ABCDxxxx.jpg and the issue would be solveed

With Windows XP you could choose "save to a folder". I always save to this same folder (and then 'move' the pics to whatever folder i want).

But back to "save to a folder". Next you name the pic- I have found this method to be helpful: Say I want to upload 130 pics from the cam. I choose 'a' and get a1 a2 a3 a4 etc when I upload the pics to the folder.

Now the next batch I unload I'll call 'b', the next 'c' etc. Once I get thru the alphabet I'll start with aa, then ab, then ac, then ad etc. (when all the

'a's are used up I go to ba, bb, bc, etc.

Anybody see any drawbacks to this method?? FZlover
