Default Photosmart 850 date and time issues

My 3 week old 850 doesn't understand that 12 noon - 1:00 pm is all "pm". The date stamp on the photos shows "am". For example, if I take pictures at 11:59 am, 12:01 pm, 12:30 pm, and 1:10 pm, the photos will show as 11:59 am, 12:01 am, 12:30 am, and 1:10 pm. At the same time the date stamp incorrectly shows 12:01 am for one minute after noon, if I go to Setup/Date, that screen correctly shows 12:01 pm.

Another issue is the HP software when set to automatically download all pictures taken within the past 1 hours. It downloads everything taken within the past day.

I have the latest firmware, 1.01.05, and use Windows XP Pro.

Hi,

I will verify it with my camera today, but for the time being it's maybe an idea to set the time on 24 hours, I have had no problem with that.

Also check that the time on the XP-Pro machine is the same as on the camera, maybe due to the AM/PM problem he downloads the whole day.

Greetings,
Frank

Anyone can test this by using 12 hour time and setting the camera to 12:05 pm. Take a photo and then look at it on the camera. If you press the OK button, the date and time will show. Do you see 12:05 am or pm? If you see am, as I do, then go to Setup and verify that the camera itself shows pm for the time.

My 850 was just replaced because it was locking up. The date problem is in the new camera as well. To repeat:

If the camera is showing between 12 noon and 12:59pm, the photos themselves will be date stamped with "am." Firmware is 1.01.05 (latest).

Update after another 40 minutes with HP tech support. What I had not noticed before was that downloaded pictures show the correct time. It is only the display on the camera that is incapable of showing any PM time between 12:00 and 12:59.

As I said in a different message group, the programmer who didn't know the difference between AM and PM should be so embarrassed that he/she fixes it for free.
