CS5 and HDR Pro

The HDR Pro contained in the new version of Photoshop is pretty impressive. I've been using Photomatrix Pro as a stand-alone program and was anxious to see what CS5 could do. Here is the middle shot of the dashboard of a 1949 Chrysler

And here is what I created in HDR Pro in CS5

Another example is this 1930 Ford convertible. Here is the middle image of a 3 shot series.

And here is the HDR Pro result in CS5. BTW, both shots (series of 3) were hand-held

looks good to me walter especially for hanheld... quite natural is this a plugin or actually part of the suite?

Wow the difference is dramatic. I wish they'd include that in PSE.

It is part of the CS5 suite.

I tweaked your middle exposure with cheapo Photoshop Elements 8 (Shadows, Highlights, etc.) . Its a good shot and there's enough info in it.

maybe they will in a future version?

ordo your edit adds a lot of noise and ruins the detail

Yep. I see the noise today that i didn't yesterday. But not the 'ruined' detail. Anyway, it was a super quick edit. I mean: just playing around with Shadows-Highlights can bring a pretty similar hdr effect. Wow... I guess i'm having a retro Chato's itch.

I really, really like what CS5 did - I suspect you wouldn't do better using Photomatix. I just spent last week processing a bunch of pictures I took at a car show that I bracketed, so I know what you were up against. What show were these pictures taken? Love the cars!

Every Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. about 100 owners show their cars at a local shopping area parking lot. They call themselves Donut Derelicts.

Sounds like a fun Saturday morning - but 6 am is a bit early for me unless I were in Orange County already. It's a long way from here to there. If I'm ever down there at that hour, I'll ask for more specifics.
