i would say the location for this shot is fantastic , but the image lacks sharpness .... was this handheld? or is it due to the resized image?

Yes, Simple,
It is both handheld and resizing issues. I guess tripod is a must for this case. I will learn to do better from good teachers from this forum. What do you suggest for my resizing problem?
I am attaching the first frame by itself for you to see.

Excellent location.

I'd suggest shooting RAW next time and doing a pseudo-HDR either with Photomatix or if you convert to a 48-bit tiff with dcraw then you can use the latest v1.90 of AutoHDR. I'd drop the exposure when you take the shot to make sure you get the detail in the clouds as clipped highlights look worse than clipped shadows in my opinion.

A pseudo-HDR is also more likely to give sharp results when handheld and/or with movement in the scene - here the water and possibly the trees/clouds.
