Can you post the middle exposure of your set? I'd be interested in seeing what you started with.
There's a lot to like in this picture. The only thing that bothers me is the sky - Photomatix sometimes has trouble with white clouds - it tends to make them grey. I think it did this to your sky, and there's some halos around the trees (give-away that its hdr). You might try to merge the frames again, this time increasing the smoothing. That should help your sky. A pretty house - if the house were on sale and I was buying I'd definitely check it out. |

Well, you can sure see the extra dynamic range that photomatix added and why you would want to use it with this scene. I'm still not crazy about the halos around the trees and photomatix tended to bump up the green saturation a bit more than my taste, but others like it that way. You can easily adjust it to your taste if it's a bit much. The probable bird doesn't bother me, but that's another thing that easily cloned out.

While I am temporarily looking at a lousy monitor, Im sure the image quality is not as good as it should be. There are many examples of HDR photos which truly look like you can reach out and touch them. See almost any of Walter S. photos. This photo is too pixellated and out of focus. Now the question of focus could be the uploading alteration that this site does to some photos if they are improperly uploaded. But its just enough to say it looks lousy compared to what it should look like.

It looks like painting after using photomatix. The original one looks better.
