Thanks! I like HDR mainly for it's capacity to combine what would otherwise be a picture with grossly dark shadows with little visible detail or completely washed out highlights (e.g skies especially) in a way that renders a picture that looks entirely natural.

At the same time, I am not generally attracted to what it's critics call "overcooked" effects: they are often - I think - quite unpleasant. For some examples of this, just Google "HDR Japanese Gardens".

Nonetheless there are some circumstances where, I suggest, the exaggeration of colors doesn't deserve to be called "overcooking". Perhaps it can be likened to the privilege that painters exercise when they create a stronger but still attractive & believable impression of a scene than strict accuracy would give. I was aiming at that with this picture.
