photomatix tone mapped Waves

I used the Tone mapping Photomatix filter in Photoshop to tone map this. Does that make it HDR? Taken today between storms.

Sometimes its hard to tell if its HDR unless you have the original shot to compare it to. There is lots of detail in the foam of the water and in the waves themselves. The sky has lots of noise in it which Im sure could be fixed with software. Im not thrilled with that structure being in the picure, but that is a really well exposed shot. How about posting the original shot before you put it through tone mapping?

Here is the original. That structure is important. It is the Pacific Pier and is about 30 feet high. It shows just how high these waves are. Without it there is no frame of reference.

I guess that's a pseudo hdr, not a real one, which involves 3 to 6 and more combined exposures.

I guess so. it is part of Photomatix.
