Something about this shot is hard for my brain to register. Maybe it lacks enough of the surrounding area to give it more perspective. It also seems slightly out of focus -- was it hand-held?

No, I dont think it was handheld. Ive taken quite alot of shots in the last couple of days, hard to remember. I guess it could be sharper.

I just liked the way the light and shadows hit on the rocks with moss growing on it. I just play with the hdr sliders till I get something that I like.

it looks sharp to me have you got the middle exposure to compare?

I think it's been resized by the forums - it's 1023 on the long side and 650k and all of the exif information other than the camera model has been stripped out. This is just sharpened and I find it much easier on the eye:
