Ya HDR can be used to give an unusual look to a photo not needing the HDR. And while it gives a little it also takes a little away.

Well done! The HDR effect has produced a very attractive Still Life. It would make an interesting and valuable addition to the discussion if you could also post the straight-out-of-camera picture(s) that are the source.
