Default Concert Picture

I was just going through some old pictures with the latest version of AutoHDR and thought I should share this one which is the picture that started it all off.

My daughter went to see Miley Cyrus in concert and although it was a great night, the pictures didn't really do it justice. This is the picture I started trying to improve with the standard paintshop tools which didn't quite do what I needed. My search then led me to HDR and then on to looking for a solution that would work with a single jpeg which was all I had to work with.

Original:

And the result from v1.91 using the Artistic preset which is pretty extreme:

I can appreciate what you are trying to do with your edits Martin, I just dont think they work. The blacks are now grainy grey. Lots of noise in the picture and not sure if the added details in the shadows is worth it. I used a bit of Topaz for conrast and denoise.

Thanks Bynx. You're absolutely right it needs more than just the pseudoHDR and I need to develop a more complete workflow. I'm particularly impressed with Topaz denoise. Your edit is definitely an improvement except for maybe the blues which are a bit rich for me.

Here's the original of that second shot for reference.

Since Mily Cirus is the main focus on the shot, I dont think HDR at its best would improve your shot. I like it just fine. Its really a good shot with great focus, exposure and composition. The details brought out by HDR only takes away from what you got in the original.
