Default Portrait Lake & Resting Boat

Hi folks

I've been working on 'honing' my HDR skills. Even though I took these shots a while ago, I did the HDR processing recently, and would be interested in your comments.

Photo 1
A lake (taken 13 months ago) at Robe, south east of the state of South Australia. It was morning, and subtle light caught the clouds. HDR seems to work well with reflections, equalising things out. I like how HDR enhances details like the foreground reeds too.

Default and....

This is probably not the most amazing subject / composition, but the detail and feel of the HDR is much superior to a single exposure ... (particularly the balance between foreground and background).

It is of a fishing boat, recently brought to shore on an island beach, off Phuket, Thailand.

In your first shot its the sharp in focus foreground that makes the pic. Your second pic looks a little dull in contrast or exposure.
