Wrong. If you care to check the histogram you will see that it is not "blown out" ... at least no more so than the original jpg. To get more detail in the highlights, a RAW should have been posted. Can you post the RAW please, Martin ?

Comparisons on jpgs are always very limited and include amplified jpg block noise.

The aim should be to see as much detail as possible. Lightness vs darkness is personal preference. Here's another edit:

There isn't a raw version. The test is to see what's the best we can do with a photo where the use of hdr wasn't considered at the time. A lot of people only ever have single jpeg to work with. I can shoot RAW but I tend to shoot JPEG because RAW cuts out other options like fast burst speed etc.

I'll take a look next week and try to reproduce it. It might just be a memory limit as AutoHDR is pretty memory hungry.

amcam: the last version is much better. I'm buying it. Just would like to see it at original size.
The question here is speed: AutoHDR is quick and you can tweak it in a snap.

Here's one from Topaz,
I just downloaded the filter today so I'm sure others could do better.
It took about 10 seconds for the filter to apply and about 3 minutes of me playing with sliders to pick what I liked best.
