Default Fog over the falls [pseudo HDR]

Dipping my little toe into the mysteries of HDR. I have downloaded HDRtist (for Macs) and am experimenting with 'Pseudo HDR for single images'. These pics were taken at Ebor Falls in the Guy Fawkes River National Park on 23 December 2010. They were taken in the middle of the day in heavy fog and low cloud. None of my usual (very) basic levels-and-contrast-tweaking pp was having the desired effect, so I decided to try tone mapping, then pp. These are the results.

#1 The top of the falls

#2 The two tiers of the main falls

#3 The third tier about a hundred metres downstream

#4 Back at the top again

I actually did two sets - a softer one and this 'harder' set. My husband (Mark) particularly liked this set as he said it brought out the detail in the walls. What do you think?

Any hints & suggestions etc very welcome.

Bernice
