For the coming maritime motives I have left my FG1 at home and used my faithful Nikon D300s with Nikkor 16-85mm ED VR lens, which still is a "better" camera for this type of shooting.

My hometown, Fredrikstad in the south of Norway is also host to the annual Classic Wooden Boat Rally ("getogether"), with the ephasis on ex workboats, now converted to pleasure boats, with the odd special buildt ragattaboat in between. All boats have to be pre WWII-buildt though.

F.Y.I.: These are not only HDR's but panoramic shots as well, 2 HDR's stitched together - each made out of 5 exposures - a total of 10 exposures.

The date of this colorful event is on Pentecost-weekend (3 days hollyday) every year , and its highlight is the boat race for big boats on sunday afternoon.

BTW. This is saturday evening after the first days race for small boats, when people relax and get social to live music and lots of beer...

***************************************
BTW.: - I don't bother to include the 0EV (middle exposure) anymore, since nobody cares anyway.

Saturday evening, the sun is down and sailors plan next day's race while consuming six-packs and chilled bottles of white wine, together with freshly boiled shrimps as finger-food.

It's all bliss.

Always a lot to see for sight-seers and wanna-be sailors, who are walking the wooden pier with dreamy eyes...
The low ray's of the last of the evening sun make the varnished wooden details sparkle and show its deep and rich colors...

Gaffrigged "KYRRE" is one of the favorites for tomorrow's race.

Look at this enormouse bowsprit!

And here is the reason for "KYRRE" to be one of the favorites in the race - it's enormous bowsprit which in turn has space for 2 big jibs (inner and outer) to be set, and both of these jibs having a large bottom-leech giving those 2 foresails a great sail-area, thus increasing the boat's driving area.
