I have made some test about video compression. As far as you have read before, if we convert the clip in another format.. if it's the same size.. it will not help as much to got an editable clip. It's very chunky and slow. But, when trying to convert the file into a mpg hd, it's far more versatile. Of course, from the first video send over here, we can see the 30 sec for 15megs got good result if we compress (or more transfert..)at a ratio of 1 to 4, i can see some degradation.. the end result came at around 62megs. I'm using Sorenson for that. So maybe 1 to 6 will give almost equal quality.. But 30sec for 100megs.. it's comming pretty big, but that's HD.
Also, i will try soon Premiere CS3 to see if there is any acceleration in it. People who try Ulead video studio 11.. Can you confirm it's fast and really editable ?
