Where are you getting the 5.3 Megs from? It clearly states everywhere including the manual, that it is interpolated to 6MP not 5.3:

Even on their website it states this:
Aiptek MPVR 2848 x 2136 Pixels (6 Mega Pixel)

For comparison, the IS-DV:
Aiptek IS-DV 2560 x 1920 Pixels (5 Mega Pixel)

And if they were merely rounding it up to 6MP that would be even worse.

They like to increase the interpolated image size while keeping the sensor size the same. It's even worse with their newer models:


Here you see 10MP yet the sensor size is yes you guessed it STILL 3MP!

remember reading the instructions and as well the pdf file on the cd i seen it somewhere where it said 5.3 and change up to 6 megapixals

it's funny the mustek did the same thing to saying the 3500 is a 4.0 and the 4500 4.1 whatcan .0 and .1 do?
