Does anybody know if the new Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum (version 9) will open Aiptek .MOV files?

I have version 8, which does not properly read the Aiptek files.

Does anybody know if this issue has been fixed?

Hey that is a good question I have one too.

Does Adobe Premiere Elements open .mov files too?

I'm considering to buy Adobe Premiere Elements version 4.

Has anyone use it?

I'm a beginner in video editing will Adobe Premiere Elements be simple to use?

Regards Robert

I wouldn't touch Adobe Premiere Elements because it doesn't support AVCHD!

How can such a major company commit such an act of negligence?

Yes.

What's wrong was in the version 8?

Apparently, the issue has *not* been fixed.

On the Sony Vegas Movie Studio forum, some of the users who have the new version (9) attempted to download files from this forum that were left by the fellow who did the Aiptek Action HD review and -- once again -- the files crash Sony Vegas Movie Studio right down to the ground!!

On the positive side, the individual who did the testing states that Sony Vegas **Pro** -- the expensive version -- *does* open the files just fine. Go figure.

That does it for me.

I'm going for the "Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus."

Should arrive within the next couple of days and I'll give it a go.

Fishy reports that it works reasonably well so I'm hoping my luck will be the same.

By the way, the Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 is selling for only $65 at Newegg.com:

Actually, version 14 of Magix Movie Edit Pro has some new features over the older version 12, including Blu-ray support:

If the Magix program doesn't perform for me, then I'll buy the CyberLink PowerDirector 7 Ultra:

If that fails, then I'll buy the Serif MoviePlus X3:

I got a very rude surprise with my Corel/Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus program the other day.

I buy a simple USB 2.0 video grabber and -- BAM! -- the software that ships with the capture device renders the Corel/Ulead program inoperable... COMPLETELY DEAD... with some vague error message that rudely informs me that ordinal 17 could not be located -- and Corel/Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus REFUSES to launch. I contacted Corel technical support and got a one-line response indicating they're already "aware" of the issue and that the question has been forwarded to "development." Well, I did some checking on the Web and discovered this problem has been reported for more than six (6) months in Web forums and nothing has been done to correct it... absolutely NOTHING.

I also contacted the company that sells the video grabber... Diamond Multimedia and they tell me they're CLUELESS about this issue. Apparently, Diamond simply re-badges the video grabber, which appears to be made by GeniaTech. GeniaTech tech support appears to be likewise CLUELESS.

This goes to illustrate just how far Corel/Ulead has fallen since Ulead was acquired back in 2005. The company seems to be a mere "shell" of what it once was and I get the impression that innovation has possibly evaporated and that they might have -- possibly -- only one or two programmers left, sitting in a lonely cubicle somewhere in Taiwan, buried with work and not enough time to even correct basic bugs. I could be wrong. But this is my impression. It's sad.
