This was announced a while back, but apparently it's finaly been released, theSamsung Digimax i50 mp3: 5Mp, 3x optical zoom that can be usedduring MPEG-4 VGA 30fps video with image stabilization, MP3 player, 2.5" LCD.
If anyone comes across a review please letme know, I haven'tfound one yet. I don't get why Samsung has released this camera when it intends to release the similar new Minikets soon? Edit: DOH! Ok, after reading some more it seems it's probably very similar to the i5 except that it now has mp3 playback features. I did find i5 reviews. Then again, maybe there areother improvements? |

Like the two Benq cameras already in the Hybrid List, these cameras erase any easy distinction between dsc's and hybrids. Something like this may just be my next camera, if the cheaper hybrids still don't get optical zooms. They have on-board editing and fast start-up times. And an "aluminum steel" case! But no remote control, pivoting screen, or video-in.

By the way this camera is finally appearing at retailers. It's available in Canada at the Source. I'll put more info in the Samsung forum.

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing full reviews of both the i50 and the Exilim S600. The i5 does good video using Xvid MPEG-4 ASP & MPEG audio at 2Mbps, the S600 does nice video but uses the Microsoft MPEG-4 SP v1.1video & PCM audio at 4Mbps. So the i5 stores double the video in the same space as the S600, and the S600 cannot zoom during video whereas the i5 can, and no mp3 playback for the S600. I think the S600 is the better still camera. Let's hope we get detailed reviews of both of these.
