Say a camera says, "SD Card Slot Support, can be expanded up to 512 mb." What happens if I stick in a 1gb card? Will it not be read? Will it be formatted or partitioned as if it was a 512mb? If so, how do you reformat it back to 1gb?

welcome aboard , Gep.
Nice avatar. if you are using the right size sd card, andwantto double the cpacity load it up nad it should work just fine if the camera says. only 512 the worst that can happen is it will use 512 and the other 1/2 will be empty. this was talked about before 1 it may not recognise 2. to for reformatting pc right click in my computer the drive and format. |

I used a 1 gig in my 4500 (512MB capacity). I could take pictures and photos same as my 256MB card. Only thing is, 1 out of maybe 50 vids gets corrupted. So it DOES work, there's just a higher chance of corruption.

When I had an Aiptek DV4500, I got corrupted videos on a regular basis. I was using 256Mb sd cards. So I don't think this is an issue of card capacity. I think it's the 4500.
If I made sure the camera was ready before starting a video, and finished processing before I shut it off, I got fewer corrupted clips. |

![]() It's POSSIBLE you are correct...possible but not probable:blah:! jk, dontbanme! Heh but actually you ARE right, I did get corrupted videos with the 256MB card as well, but with the 1 gig I get one at least once per gig filled. With the 256, it would be weeks and then BAM corrupt out of nowhere. Now it's sort of a regular thing. |
