Hey guys I just made my first vid for YouTube and it came out horrible. I'm using a GE Ultracam made by Jasco. I primarily use it as a webcam but it has still and movie modes. The problem is it's only 15 fps. I figured I'd stick with a hybrid because a) I can't afford more. b) I probably will only use it for this purpose and c) YouTube vids have some restrictions.Videos are limited to 10 minutes/100 MB and videossavedin MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format convert the best. I was looking at the Aiptek IS DV2but it's a little too pricey.

I was surprised that I couldn't find any recommendations on the web. I couldn't be the only one who woke up one day and felt like getting some sort of cam for this purpose. Anyway I'm sure there's enough info on here for me to make a good decision but if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great! I figured I'd start a thread in case there was another person someday who also wanted this specific info.

Thanks!

Thanks Fishy.

The more I research this, the more expensive it gets. I was reading your review of the IS DV2 and saw the picture of you holding it left handed. I'm left handed andhaven't even considered that it might be a factor. Now I'm checking into the Pocket DV5300 with the swivel display. I think I'm going to have to go somewhere and check these out in person.

Aiptek DV5300 and the DGZOOM DV5500 look real user friendly to lefties. Too bad the rebate ended 9/30. I would have seriously considered it.

I found this vid of anRC airplane with a DGZoom DV5500 video camera inside on YouTube.

dg zoom? there has to be a company name behibd that, and the 5500 is that theMustek dv5500?

if it is stand clear you'll be very dissappointed.

a camcorder fora lefty no such thing, but i think you should look for not a seperate or rear record button, but on the top. it helps

Mustek dv4500 series.

a record on top has a better start stop when recording no shaking a the start end.

I found a listing for a Aiptek DV 5300 on ebay. It was listed as being new but in an open box. I won the auction at $45.00. It came to $56.50 with shipping and $1.50 insurance.

I just received the camera today and started playing with it. There was no open package just the inside packaging and that had "display" written on it in marker so Ihave my doubts on just how "new" it is.

The first thing that struck my is how small, compact and light weight it is. The swivel display is nice and when you flip it around to film yourself the image automatically rights itself.

The big disappointment has been the sound. The sound on recorded video is very low accompanied by a hum. Now my task is todetermine if there is a way to adjust the recorded sound or if it is do to the condition of the camera.
