I was just watching Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life and seen that Lara was using a really really small digital video camera (a hybrid?) to video capture an orb in the Temple of Luna. The scene is about 10 minutes into the film as well you see the camera again about 1/2 way through when she's in China using it as a web cam. Sorry I don't have any pics to post as I was watching it on VHS.

The flip out LCD looked like it took up the whole side of the camera with only the lens in front of it. There was no "name brand" that I could see but you could see a fairly large "SD" logo on the flip out.

Any idea on what make and model ? I'm just curious.

Ten minutes - Sorry, found it. It's a Panasonic SV-AV20

Heres a link from Panasonic's Middle East site about the D-Snap SV-AV20. 3/4's of the way down the page it mentions Lara using the camera in her daring escapades in Cradle of Life.

Tomb Raider Hybrid

Are there any other movies that have people using real hybrids, not made up super gadgets ?

house of wax used a camcorder, Survivorman a camcorder, etc. yes there are , some of the movies i watched , and cannot remember shown a tapeless unit but were not a hybrid of multifunctions

Pansonic D-snap was out over 5 years ago, n older model ran 300-400 and 2 megapixals no optical zoom.

While not a real device, the movie2001: A space odysseypreempted these devices. The device being held by the guy looks very similar to some toy hybrid devices I have seen:

Haha,

Looking at the image I can now see what you are referring to. I guess in making the DVD frame grab I didn't see those twin reflections. A movie clip would have made the device more obvious. As it was a DVD frame grab, blowing up the area where he is holding the camera made it too pixelated. Anyway those who have seen the movie will see what I mean.
