Yeah the C40 does not focus quickly in low light but is great with a little more light.

Hey 73scoutIII saw your comparison on youtube and that was great. I just bought the sanyo c40 at radio shack for $200 but the quality i'm getting is like the first web cam i ever got. I noticed you mention you were going to sell the svp though.. it seemed like it did a lot better than the sanyo.. can you explain more about why. I'm really debating on if i should keep the sanyo c40 or try my luck with the sanyo c6 or even a svp.. never really heard of svp before though so i'm not sure it'll last.. thanks!

to answer your question on a hybrid:

1. will it store files on a 4 gig and work in the device

Yes.

Some hybrids will tell you accepts up to 2 gig etc?

the mustek I own will only accept a 512 sd/mmc card, no where does it say it will allow a 1 gig card, or work.

Aiptek up to 2 gig as well.

today i have placed my 1 gig in the mustek andit works fine, and will record 6 hrs plus,

so somewill show the additional record, or may not.

In my expierience, it will work, show and not last with the battery for sure in recording, and playback, these batteries are rated 1 hr 30 minutes, there is a lot ofjuice being use or wasted, and they are now working on a longer record baterytime, on some models they already got them out.

example, cell phoneswill run on standby fordays up to 3-16 days on the same battery. but once it goes roaming or off network, it loses power super fast.

hope this helped out a lil

oh yes it quite completely filled in the blanks thank you! it might work and in your opinion will but itdrains power fast, so all in all it whould be better to get 2x2 gb instead of a 4 gb beacause the power it sucks :P

thanks

ps: i will post a review when i get my camera !

1. having a larger sd or mmc card can lead to curruption, and if you tend to use a bigger card and you currupt files it is a loss , unless you know how to retrieve.

I tend to keep to a 1 gig card, and 45 minutes ofvideo I can never fill on a weeks vacation. I run out of battery before i do , but am fast to pop in a fresh one

I may have just that amount of room to tape one in, guess not Aiptek should have left that amount of room:G

hello, i am new to these forums.

a lot of talk about the SVP-8800 / HDDV-8800 unit.
it is one of very few models that can do 720x480 @ 30fps.
www.svp-tech.com

i have one of these units and havae been using it for a few days. i have also owned a variety of other digital cameras with video modes, but i really wanted a small camcorder i could take videos... and 640x480 was not QUITE enough, but 720x480 is perfect because the resolution is the exact same for NTSC dvds.

(dvd resolution, not quality, lol)

is anyone really interested in what i have to say about this unit (HDDV-8800)?
there is SO LITTLE information on how it ACTUALLY performs, much less videos or pictures the unit has taken. i am willing to take some pictures of it & with it, and also host some videos, but i won't really waste my time if this is a dead topic.

Please respond if you would like to see the videos/pictures the device can create, as well as videos and pictures OF it. ok, thanks!

well i finally got my camera it works better than i taught i whould 640 x 480 for videosis fine for me the pictures are so sweet i'm in love with it!! the battery's last like they said for 6-8 hoursmusic playing 4-5 hours playing a movie on a 2 gb sd 150x i didnt see a noticeable diference between the normal sd card and the 150x and 1-2 hours recording videos.

it doesnt come with an adapter to plug into the wall but it runs on pc usb power when pluged into the pc ,i know this because when you put a drained battery in it usually shuts down the cam but not when pluged into the usb it stays on even with a drained battery ...nice ! but it doesnt work without a battery -> the usb power that is!

love the modes on it never saw a negative video before neat !!! i played with that for hours :P the tv out works gr8 but some movies need to be reencoded to alow flickerless movies , not all media is like that but i got a flickering eragon movie and porno flick but they only flcker when i jump on the tv they work fine on the player itself !! the rest worked fine on the tv,its not the tv i tried several tv's same result !

all in all i love this camera because of the battery's i love the way it charges in like 1-2 hours ,4 hours for the first time but after that its fast.

i'll come back to post a video as soon as i got something else than me and my buddy's smokin a blunt :P dont whanna put those on the net :P too bad too i got good clips! be back in 1 week!!

plz feel free to ask me about my camera i'll test it till it breaks if i can
