I was having a chat with an old friend of mine on designing a hybrid with custom features and now that I think of it more...it sounds like an appealing idea.

I even know people who could help me out on the making of this "idea"

I wanted to hear from you all if that sounds like a plan.

o.O really nice idea! Wish I finished Engineering school already to help ya out.

Out of curiosity, what would you put this hybrid to do? If you'd ask me I'd make sure it had a PMP with multiple format support, but thats just me ^_^

Sometimes I feel like melting plastic, mold it into a box and stuff it with camera parts, I might end up making a death ray if I put too many lenses on it! lol But anyways, it's been always my dream on making multiple feature/use electronics.

Well crazy thing is I know friends who specialize in electronics so making one wouldn't be that difficult for them if I ask for a couple of favors...I think I might just do it but for your question I would have..

6 mp ccd sensor.

pmp capabilities.

10x optical zoom.

Mpeg 4 video although mpeg 2 sounds interesting.

Mp3 player.

Not sure exactly but really good shutter speed.

Voice recorder.

3.0' lcd.

thumb-wheel.

a beautiful menu interface/

incase it in a impressive black/silver shell

and some kind of shock resistance.

Well you gotta think about cost.A hybrid with too much thrown in is bound to cost alot...I was thinking about it further and the battery came to mind.

Fish is that the bestefficienttype of battery for a hybrid?Things can be sacrificed on the behalf of a long lasting battery I say.

Also I was thinking since there are alot of hybrid owners if i could in fact have this done just for a few people if anybody would be interested in one...just out of curiousity.

my list:

is just ideas what a hybrid may conist, it does n ot have to be everything on it but possably one or a few from it?

Battery?

a rechargable system with a solar cell

Ifyouare serious about making one, by all means go ahead , but if this was a imaginary one it is still fun.

How about

1] Have a selectable higher bitrate mode of say 4mbps like the Casios.
2] True Optical Image Stabilisation (The cheapest Panasonics have it, so shouldn't make the hybrid that expensive)
3] 720x480/30fps mode.
4] Shutter and Aperture Priority for still image mode.
5] Autofocus with 10x Zoom.
6] CCD if good CMOS not practical.
7] Stereo Sound Recording.
9] Good low light ability.
10] Have MPEG2 and MPEG4 modes.

Of course we have to be careful that we don't describe something along the lines of the mythical car that does 200MPH, 0-60 under 5 seconds, has great handling and does 50MPG. ie a great camera that does everything for just $50. Oh and a 24 hour battery of course !
