They mention the Aiptek GO-HD at camcorderinfo.com:

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Aiptek-Offers-Cheapest-HD-Camcorder-Yet-29479.htm

but as usual they start bashing it (even before they tested it), as they do even with the Sanyo Xacti model range. There is a definite bias against consumer camcorders and especially memory card devices on this site.

"Meeting the minimum requirements for what can be considered high definition is little more than a camera that can record 1280 x 720 (0.9MP) stills at 30fps for sustained periods. Similar camcorders have tested very poorly for overall video quality compared to more legitimate – and more expensive – HD camcorders."

I am not quite sure What they mean by "is little more than a camera that can record 1280 x 720 stills at 30fps for sustained periods"?

Why what else would it be?? Are High Definition devices no longer called Camera's or something?

Fishycomic, you had me going there for a minute. I thought you might mean the GO-HD was on sale for $129!! Of course I thought it extremely unlikely but checked anyway since I remembered a local Target had one of the Aipteks for half price for one day in the past :G Still at that price I am sure they would sell in an instant! One can but dream though...

the aiptek can be Purchased in http://www.amazon.com (amazon) for 254.plus dollars? and sign up for a 30.00 discount on thenext purchase , you'll need to buy something yourealy want first then second later? I just bought a vcr player that cannot befound in stores due to feb17th 2009 regulations of air wave signals going to full blown digital signals.

I do want this hybrid, and asked d...... a staff member of the site, and awaiting a response of this Hybrid? If that person has any pull to get a beta- model?

If I can I wil do my full blown out review, if not I have to wait a year for our members to realy do one LMAo

Thanks for all the great information in this thread.

Does the GO-HD have an external microphone input?

No microphone input. Also, my camera seems to be shutting down when the battery is charged. I wonder if the battery issue is simply one of poor quality lithium ion, just like the notebook recall. Can someone recommend a good brand or website for batteries? The battery model is an NP60 and I think is used on other electronic devices.

I got the womble free trial software to work. It read the .mov files, allowed me to combine them and then wrote to a .mov .h264 file, but the file was 640x480 instead of 1280x720 (720p) which was the format of the input files.

It looks good on the codec supplied by aiptek with windows media player but doesn't fill the whole screen like the originals did (on a 720p screen). So almost but not quite. Anyone else try this?
