well lets see? you cannot format the card through the hybrid alone , it will delete the file only of movies and pics just sub-folders*

try this?

1 plug in your hybrid, and what drive does it come up as mine will come up as K and L yours is only an external* so K will be my example

when you're asked to open under windows cancel and go to my computer/

in my computer find that drive K and right click it?

what do you see there? you should see format? andthere you shall do your fat or fat32?

Fishy: I did exactly as you said earlier, but ONLY FAT32 is an option. I am using Windows XP Professional. Maybe there is a more robust program out there that will allow *just* FAT.... OR! Maybe you can only format the 8gb cards in FAT32.

OK - here is what i am gonna do tomorrow. I am going to try the 512mb card that i have hanging around and see if I can format that in FAT, and NOT FAT32. I think that back in the ol' days FAT was fine but had a 2gb limit per partition, and I think that FAT32 had a larger partition limitation, around 10gb (???) or so.

We'll see. I'll update on my progress, but I would like Ferribaci to let us know how large the SD card was that he used to format to FAT (and *not* FAT 32).

I have XP and format the SD (2gig) into FAT. XP offers "FAT, FAT32, NSTF" as choices. I just put the card i n the reader and then go to MyComputer, right-click, then Manage, Storage, DiskManagement and right click on the drive that has the card. XP offers those three choices for formatting.

Question for those who have tried: is the fw 1.4 the German Aiptek Support sent people the same as the one that can be downloaded from the megaupload site, i.e., the RAR file?

Any significant improvement? Input is appreciated. Thanks.

you must copy the bin.file in the maindirectory not in the dcim directory!

that was also my error cause with my first update attempt

(i am using a 2 GB SD-card formatted with the Aiptek)

Its possible there is a problem formatting 8 GB SDHC?

correct

The rar file must go into a complete formated sd card no file no sub-folder? the mpvr file was not rar, but an ELF.file.

Thanks for walking me through this and a appreciate your caution.

When I plug mine in and go to My computer I have it as a Media(E) drive. When I right click on it says it is FAT32. When I left click I have a DCIM folder and then in that I have a 100Media folder. The file I downloaded is aiptek_hd_v1400.rar. Would you just copy this file from the computer to the FAT32 formatted sd card? Which directory would you put it in. Root? DCIM? or 100Media? Thanks!

Bigger than 2 GB cards can only be formated in FAT 32 format !

FAT can only go to 2 GB,when I remember correctly.

So take a 2GB or lower capacity SD card to format it to just FAT
format.
Then it will work.

Just put the BIN file from the RAR archive into the root
of the SD card and then the update works.

As I have brought back the camera already, I would
be interested to see, what the version 1.500 has fixed ?
Can somebody please post the changes, if they were documented ?

Did they also fix the high distortion volume of the mike, when you
want to record louder music ?
