The glider idea sound very cool. Hope the cam works well.
No go on the audio in for mic. This input is strictly for analog capture only. Built in mic is it when capturing off of the CMOS. But what is the point of capturing audio from a glider? What would you need to hear?

The A-HD was a big hit at the family Thanksgiving get together. I took both it and my Sony HC1 but the HC1 never even made it out of the case. I wanted to see how well the A-HD did for family gatherings like this as that is what a lot of people will be using it for. My great nephews have used the HC1 in the past but they were fascinated with the A-HD and now want one for Christmas. Usually I wind up in these family videos with no shots of myself but I barely got to use the A-HD at this gathering everyone else was playing with it.

bossman:

I would like to share with you a better way to get the MOV to MPG conversion

I love the new Aiptek HD however Aiptek´s choice to use MOV file container for the H264 encoded video clips causes problems with almost all Windows video editing programs and video players. Aiptek´s CD program to install a codec to view MOV files with Windows Media viewer does not help to get the files edited and burnt to a DVD disk.

I have found, thru experimentation that it´s better to transcode the MOV files to MPEG 2 format, keeping the HD (1280x720)resolution.

A conversion program like [email protected] (freeware) with the paramenters shown on the picture below, allows to batch process your MOV files. Converted video files in MPEG format can be viewed with several video players and are easy with all editing programs.

If you want to burn a DVD you can use a DVD authoring program and edit your video files with payware programs like PINACLE VS ,ULEAD VS, MAGIX ,etc or if you just want to burn your video clips in DVD use freeware programs like DVDStyler, DVDFlick, 007DVDAuthor etc.

I list the links to get the freeware programs. in the same sites you´ll find user guides.
To download [email protected] converter click
http://www.erightsoft.net/super.html
To download DVDStyler DVD author click http://www.dvdstyler.de
To download K-Lite video/audio codecs click http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

Note: K-Lite will install Media Clasic Player a program that replaces WMP and plays all audio and video formats

SUPER is reputed to be infected or have malware.
Its installation dumps several executables into sys32 which are flagged
as as spyware.

what I like to see in a future miodel of hte A-HD a settingfor gain of the micand optional plug the germany model shows a camcorder like .

I also like to say target offers for 1.00 less a sale price 127 for the A-Hd after a big sale day. posably we'll see a lower price within 2 weeks before Xmas, for those who are holding out, missed out or do not want to be part of the family:G

119 was the lowest so possably again we'll see it?

happy filming all..................

Is the version 2.002 firmware downloadable
from somewhere ?

How do I test out the AV input ?
Is it only enabled, when you stick a cable into the AV output plug ?
Where are the menus with a cable in the plug ?
I don´t see any menu items in my German model...
Or do the US models have an additional plug for the AV-in ?

I can only see when I stick the AV cable into the
AV output plug , it asked me to use headphone or
AV-out, but no AV-input...
Hmm...probably they droped this function
for the German models due to customs tax costs.

I wonder, if they also did not include the AV recording chips
in the German models, or if all the hardware recording
is done in a big ASIC chip ?

So could I use the US 2.002 firmware to enable the
AV-input ?

2. Is there also a new setting to record 720p in 25 frames/sec ?

I thought the cam was just a 29.97 Hz model only ?
Okay, only during AV output playback you can choose between Pal
and NTSC, but that is just a crappy software scanrate converter,
as all the movies are recorded at 29.97 frames/sec, if I am right ?

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

I have seen, that the output from the YUV HD output of the AHD200 cam
was not too good on my LCDTV.
I saw, that the files playing on my laptop screen were much more in detail
and did not have these mach band effects.
So that is no wonder, as there are 2 conversions from digital to analog
inside the cam to the YUV output and then inside the LCD TV set
from YUV analog to the digital pixel driver converter...

So now I have found a method to get the good quality of the cam
also to display on my LCD TV set.

I am now using MP4CAM2AVI software to convert the 720p MOV file to AVI
still having the AVC codecs, which is a very fast container transcoding process only.

Then I am using Windows Media Encoder to encode the AVI to WMV9
in CBR 9000 KBits/sec Windows Media Video 9 Codec and then
burn the 720p WMV file onto DVD-R and display it via HDMI via my Xoro HSD8500
HDTV DVD-player to my LCD-TV set.

The Xoro player is a special DVD player that uses Sigma Design
chipset to be able to display up to 1080i from normal WMV9 files on DVD-R.
It also works great with 720p WMV video files.

This way the videos from the AHD200 look very crisp on my
32 inch LCD- HDready TV set.

Regards, Stefan.
P.S: Therewillbesoon coming out the new model
Xoro HSD 8510.
This already has USB( cardreader) interface in it and it might be able
to directly play the MOV H264 files,if it has the latest Sigma chipset,
which supports H.264...but this I don´t know yet...
By the way, is there still any other player with DVI or HDMI output.
that can directly play the MOV files from DVD-R without needing them
to convert first into another file format ?

the answer you'll recive, may not be liked but do notcount on seeing an AV input, and afix?

Contact Aiptek.com.tw andcomplain? contact Aipte.de andask, do not contact Aiptek.inc (usa) they'll direct you back to your Region.

that said no download, no fix, and no cure sorry

I'm lost on the Mic / Sound issue. I bought an A-HD from Best Buy and the sound is horrible! I notice fishy's review has a big warning about this on the top, but others seem to have good sound quality. Is mine just defective and in need of replacement? Will another A-HD be better? Should I just sell it off?

The mic picks up my voice really loud and garbled unless I speak very quietly, and everyone else (even a few feet away) is really quiet with a lot of background noise.
