Fishy,

Thanks for the You Tube Clip.

After seeing that, I know I'll be sending my Camera back and let Aiptek upgrade or replace it.

Too complicated for ME.

I can do all those things but am NOT ready to take the chance of "frying" my Camera and NOT being able to afford another one.
If I send it to Aiptewk and TRHEY FRY IT, then they''ll replace it.

Granted I'll be withoout my Camera for 4-5 weeks, but better that than screwing it up my self and having no camera at all.

Thanks for your help though.

I have to say that you guys have given A-HD a fair judgment. While the audio sucks, the industrial design is ugly, the DSC functions are average and the zoom is barely usable, the HD video is way above than what I expected. I can get very good video after I figure out how to use it properly. I hope that Aiptek can fix all of the problems and keep the price and the video.

The HD video is above what I expected for 4mb/s (unless you pan apparently) but it is still less than what I expect. Imagine how this would do with 9Mb/s, or 18Mb/s at 60/50fps. When they hit these bit rates it might present an seamless consumer grade video on an really big screen.

Hmm, computing power doubles every 18 months they say, if we back track to when the Ambarella chips were released, we are looking at 9Mb/s plus by end of the year. That is probably also their base level chip too. I understand there is at least one bigger consumer grade chip, probably used in the Samsung at 14mb/s (or was that 12mb/s). Somebody should be able to use something like that in an handheld, which means that by end of this year an more expensive handheld may be possible with 18mb/s at 60fps. Don't expect these things to crop up in an $1xx camera soon though, I think they might be planning 6mb/s versions, possibly up to 9mb/s for 60p.

Unfortunately I don't have my own personal website yet so I'll have to link you to this forum. It consists of 5MP photos and 720p videos that I shot while I was in Sao Miguel, Azores with the Aiptek A-HD camcorder.

Enjoy
