hdguy,

Wow... I never think to analyze FW binary file. You are so professional.

If you see 5M picture is 2592x1944, you can visit Micron's web: http://www.micron.com/products/cmos/5/partlist.

I agree, there may not be much improvement, if you read ambarella documents you will see claims of doing things with, what is in affect, minimal increases in data rate. I forget if it was 20% to double the fps, or whatever. There really needs to be improvement though, as we can tell, they seem to be doing better with less, but there still needs to be more. 4.x Mb/s would be much better as 9-18mb/s, and for professional I would say go 24mb/s+.

What is interesting, is that Casio on their EX-F1, will not have 60fps progressive in 720p (and presumably in 1080p either). I think they really need to correct this and go for the 24mb/s+ (even 18mb/s). What does this have to do with the Aiptek, keeping ahead of the competition (Aiptek) and giving us value for money on an camera like that.

What about a port for external microphone used along with the built in image sensor? IMO this is one of the first upgrades Aiptek should do the the A-HD ...

Or is this the old A-HD hardware with just different firmware flashed?

They are up to A3 chip now. I know originally they had an couple, of progressively more powerful chips at different prices. Hopefully though the A3 does the same and is used with higher data-rates. For quality we should look at 720p60 at 18-24mb/s+, and preferably at least 9mb/s+ at 30p.

YES!!!

The #1 issue -- poor audio... I've been using the video feature of an old digital canon to create instructional vids for work -- only because the audio is clean...

My Aiptek A-HD has incredible video and is fun and convenient -- but stays in a drawer when it comes to my "practical" needs...

Still looking forward to the new 2008 edition!

Except they were claiming something like January or February for the base model, so unless they use the same parts as in Aiptek and are equally delayed, then it should be possible. However, there p60 cameras are delayed from last year.
