I've decided to post something that I haven't been able to find anywhere else.
This a video still image in DV mode with the lens cap on. See the vertical lines?
These lines are visible in all conditions except in heavy lighting areas like the outdoors. Even good video indoors can be ruined by filming something that is already colored black in the shot.

Here's the rundown:

1. From what I've read, this happened only after the v2.002 firmware.
2. It occurs in all resolutions of video.
3. It disappears in full zoom, or outdoor lighting.
4. It doesn't happen with still photos.
I can attest to this list This problem definitely occurs in the video but disappears in the still images. It's too bad that Aitpek did not translate whatever is fixing this problem in the still images, over to the videos as well. I also have a letter out to the Aiptek support person. Hopefully I will hear something soon about any updates to the firmware, one way or the other.

Actually I used win media player for the screenshot. For some reason, the clips I took weren't letting me use fullscreen with quicktime, even though all my other ones seem to work. Maybe because the vids were only ten seconds? Anyway, you are right, the quicktime does seem a little bit lighter. If you save an image I posted and open one of them with the quicktime image viewer side by side with the windows native viewer, then you will see the difference.

if you're new to the cam, I suggest have fun before using itto upgrade firmware.

1. menu shows 4 different things setting camcorder video/photo/voice and not usre if a 4th there?

on the screen you have 4 buttons power foward play backward

press menu to show the 3 or 4 features not the video photo white balance flash etcm

hold both the backward of the lcd and menu done that simple if totally lost go to the Go-Hd look at the second post Ithink I writen off the poster
