I take back my words about slightly better sound, sound is now popping but not cracking so much anymore, that is what I meant about slightly better audio, no plus signs anymore, definetly all minus after firmware upgrades (1.6->2.0->2.4). This camera is beginning to be only usable for still pictures after firmware upgrades, you can't even shoot remotely bearable video with it. Maybe with external audio recorder, but who bothers to shoot your home videos with all that editing, not me.

I hear ya.

some may have working, and non working models FW etc...............

SOunds like they went overboard and just gave up on the fixs, trying to tweak up/down every which way etc. but show no fixs.

If Aiptek was a supportive site tehy have our emails send out a auto update cost $$ t ohit a key manually, cost less put one out of a job t o do it Automatically.

now yes having to not edit video is great, but to edit them takes time that is your decision.

I again totaly hear ya.......... never an argue

Question: Am I to understand that they actually have a higher firmware than my 2.101? Or is it not for the same camera? By the way, I've noticed another problem that I haven't heard about before. Sometimes, my camera falsly shows low battery and even shut offs. But after I turn it back on, its full again. Is there a way to fix hat besides firmware upgrade?

A-HD.

a few things

a bad chip wil create certain issues.

Firmware can only be UPGRADED, not downgraded.

Bios can be reflashed , only at Aiptek, not by anyone

1. the battery may not be making a solid contact, or the battery may have a bad cell.

2. older cams the files would have been lost. now they are saved.

If curruption occures then I say best to exchange fast. Due to battery, and chip.

I have an A-HD+ and have been using my camera for in-car recording.

This video (http://vimeo.com/2315579) uses the onboard mic with foam stuffed around it and a layer of painter's tape on the mic cover (covering all the holes). While this reduces wind-noise some, it also almost completely eliminates the exhaust sound.

My Firmware:

Full: V1.308 2/10 03:30
HW: X5
Time: ...
Nand: HY27US081G2A
Bin: sd_v5vp.bin

So to solve that problem I made an external mic setup: and recorded this video: http://vimeo.com/2122985

My question is what are the differences in sound with ALL the firmwares. I just can't seem to find that info (its all over). I was making another setup like this for a A-HD+ which has 1.7 firmware. However when using the same external mic setup, the sound is much louder, "clicks", and hissy when silent (compared to V1.308 on mine).

Can anyone list out all the firmware's can describe "their" sound and overall gain level? THanks.

It seems I have solved the battery problem at the moment by setting to default and formatting the camera. However, I had seen someone mention a version 2.4 firmware flash for A-HD, wasn't sure if I missunderstood or if it wasnt the same camera version.
