I use Boilsoft MOV converter to convert MOV files to MPEG2
This is actually re-encoding the video from one codec to another. So, there is likely a 10% or more loss of quality in the conversion process. Not only that, but the MPEG2 data will need to be nearly twice as big in order to attempt to match the original quality as the MPEG4 video. So I guess for watching them, if that is what you have to do, then fine. But I wouldn't archive them in this manner.

Yes, I use it only for watching videos not archiving them. I will be archiving them in original format.

You actually can't take screenshots with regular windows media player or quicktime because you won't get the overlay which is being handled by the video driver and is not part of the framebuffer. - Another nice thing about GOMPlayer.. you can just right click and in the menu you can save a frame or copy it to the clipboard for use in a paint program. I'm not sure about media player classic, though.
