Hey Fishy:

Nice work on all you do on the awareness of hybrid cams for consumers...

I am a video producer in Oregon and these little cams have kind of become one of my hobbies. More details on that later, but while I stumbled upon the Aiptek Action HD last night at my local Walmart I also noticed the Jazz Elite 188. The store was out of stock on the Aiptek but had several of the Jazz units there on display.

I was VERY intrigued with the Aiptek as I have already owned several of these cams.

My question to you is fairly simple: For the difference in price of $100, have you found any significant quality differences in the Action over the Elite?

Also, did Aiptek fix the audio sync drift issues in this cam? I became aware of this on my DV 5800.

Was wanting to grab the Elite today so if you see this and can send a quick reply I would appreciate that...

Thanks, Jay

there is a full review topic here will be posting there. do not mind posting here:Gjust will rub RVCAM tempt him to get one LMAO

Welcome in Jay.

I am now editing the review video but it is only an observation.

1 Action HD / Aiptek A-HD+ are 1080P camcorder, while the Jazz HDV178. notsure of the 188 are HD720P

Aiptek are 60 fps and30 fps andno vid aud issue, only now if you edit and trying to save the file les grade , it showed for me you need a 3.0 dule or higher proccessor

While this Jazz compared to the A-HD and GO-Hd you need 388 mhz vs 2.0 that is quite a difference?

So if your pc is slow I get the Jazz, buttell you what the Jazz may suffer from the low light, and that is where Aiptek has now become the better camera. only on the GO-HD and A-Hd, not the Action HD and A-HD+ (they suffer from low light) how much do they suffer i say

Aiptek MPVR and PVR

hope you understand what I am saying lol

I get the Action HD for 3x optical zoom 1080P sound is by far better but notsure anymore on the go upgraded to action but a-hd to a-hd they're all the same

going to post some macro clips andregular clips soon direct download

Thanks for the reply Fishy:

The specs for the Jazz Elite actually say 1280 x 720, 30 fps.

I am really intrigued by the rubberized style of this cam.

Anything else negative other than low light on this one?

Remember, I was actually very impressed with my DV5800 for the price. Will probably give it to my 14 year old son to play with if I get the ELITE or ACTION.

The biggest thing on the Aiptek is that I could not justify $200 on something that still has severe known audio sync issues...

Thoughts?

Jay

my vids are up, take a look at the pinned jazz. yes not a 60 f cam a up to 30 f cam lol

bad points, so far under 24 hours

Color is vivid, and may need to lessen the sharpness up/down, so a lot of play is needed. I am amazed for A C - note. i am tryingto place someshort clips together, have not tested an other thing outto say bad points yet.

if i had a nickle for every person here oh man..........................

rubber body is a trip, probably wear out due to usage LMAO. makes it look water tight

sd card slot like the Aiptek Is-Dv, but no cover here.

720p on a sd card 4 hours not sure if 8 gig or 1 gig looks like a meg a sec. so file size is good uncerten due to rushing LOL

battery life seems to be fine have not yet tested .

low light, and led we all know that answer. like the older mpvr LOL

need to get used to the sound.and that's it for now
