I was in a local branch of Walmart today and notice a small HD (1280x720p) camcorder called the Jazz Elite for $149. I am assuming this is from jazz cameras but their website (www.jazzcameras.com) seems to be down at the moment so I attached a photo to this post instead taken with my cameraphone (so not the best quality). This thing is tiny and will easily sit inside the palm of my hand. It may be one of the smallest HD cameras. My sister-in-law has a regular jazzcam and even though the bitrate is lower than the Aiptek at 2Mbps average instead of nearer 3 for the Aiptek MPVR, the video is quite decent. I have never seen any reviews for these cameras and never even knew they existed until she bought one.

That's the HDV-178 model and it *is* on the Jazz Web site, but you have to navigate the FLASH Web site to find the specific high definition models.

There appear to be at least three high definition models:

HDV-178, HDV-188, HDV-175

I just noticed there's a fourth high definition model... the HDV-205.

The photo of this model isn't too revealing, but the production description says the HDMI cable is *included.*

Interesting.

Finally the website is back up. Seems it's totally different from their old one in that it's mainly flash based now. Also seems more basic. I can't seem to find a support link for downloadable manuals anywhere.

From the ID and spec, it may be the same as Digilife HDV-791.
The HDV-205 maybe zoom lens model.

$99 ? They have it on sale at Walmart? Post a clip so we can see what it's like. If it's $99 at my local Walmart and the video is good, I may just get myself one of these too.
