OK Folks, looks like we have a convert here...

This is what I have been saying all along is that you have to play with these things and go with the strengths and avoid the weaknesses...

Also, I have a similar issue with trying to edit the HD clips in Premiere Pro as well. I think that whatever HD codec these use, our NLEs have not caught up yet but think they will soon.

My current work around is to use the ArcSoft app (which I normally hate) and convert the needed clip to Standard Def and use from there.

But, sandmanfvr, I am very glad to see you are seeing the same thing as many of the rest of us and will be curious to see if you decide to try an indie project with one of these cams with an external audio source...

FYI: audio in is something I am planning on bringing up soon in one of my next info exchanges with Jazz!!!!

If this thing was on a tripod, had a shot readied to be shot and it was done right, it would be professional. I am thinking about buying one of these 188's.

EDIT: Ok, can't get Sony Vegas to show video, it will do the sound, but no video. Weird.

Bobcat:

any further testing of the Arc Soft converter app to see if you can change the settings such as increase the audio rate to 44khz?

hey I wanted to upload this pic of Mingus Park in Coos Bay since we all have been kind of focused on the video aspect of these cams... I just thought that this was a pretty nice image to share from the 188.
The only editing of this image in PS was to convert to 16 bit and adjust the size small enough to post here...

Some HDV178 still images. I am taking my camera with me today while I am out and about to see what other interesting shots I can take. You can see some barrel distortion on the last image but not as bad as it is on the Sanyo HD700 which is quite pronounced.

Well I am in Orlando and I am going to do some video recording with my 188 this weekend to share with you guys. I will do some background vegetation shots too.

By the way: I want to share this with you guys. It has absolutely nothing to do with this thread or cameras, but I think it is interesting since there is a possibility this is a digital camera trick of some kind. You be the judge:

OK here's a video I took of my sweetheart and best friend, Pepper with my Jazz 188 about 15 minutes ago. I was testing the Macro feature. I shot it using the available light. No modifications of settings or anything. I wanted to see how the camera performed with the natural light available. Let me know what you think. The video is straight from the SD card.

Read the posts:

As I was in Walmart, decided to pass,

and as I recieved the answer here,

I am sure I may swing by and just pick the

HDV188 up for just the font size thank you for those shots

Perfect. As we can say the HD188 has more metal galour

and that is good, the buttons are laid out Better in ways

If you like a bigger foto button a bigger screen, lets just say a bigger

cam for 50.00 more, only way you're going to recieve your deduction

If the cam is locked and on the wrong tag, some and most are locked on hooks.

As if and we know other sitres also do the same Monitor,

Lets hope that JAzz/ispan/whoever the cam people are

get us a firmware fix for a larger font I am sure that would

Be my major issue, as there are minimal ones. hardware or parts,

are just some and again a swival lock etc for the batt door.

thanks all for a great posts, this is the 178/188 Jazz thread and I will be making sure it says that.

Low light shot.

The link above is the Videwo, and below the actual pic taken.

If you can understand how dark is dark, I know in my mind, this shot will

not come out, even video so I just go right ahead and do just that.

I played back and wow its there, the room was light outside

but I was indoors, and the shop closed, town was a ghost town

so it can be said, camcorder/cam will do just fine.

Below bottom was a Mall and I am sure very colorful, not happy

with how the cam does not show the colors, it may be a lil washed

out like i was telling you. the video is by far vivid see this link for its colors.

Guess no matter what itall works out vid pic etc.

mall link for pic below the last one
