Hey Fishy, Have you taken the Action HD apart before? I love this little cam, especially for timelapse stuff but the focus kills it. Would it be possible to put a micro switch to turn off the AF ? Do you know if there are wires to connect to of it it is all done on the board?

HEY, I JUST PURCHASED THE AIPTEK ACTION HD BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO SHOOT IN A REGULAR SHUTTER SPEED, MORE LIKE 1/8 OF A SECON, OR EVEN 1/15TH. HAVE YOU EVER ENCOUNTERED THIS. NOT TO MENTION THAT THE MODEL I JUST BOUGHT WAS A DEMO MODEL. COULD IT HAVE BEEN DROPPED OR SOMETHING? I BOUGHT IT FROM WALLY WORLD.

YOU SEE I JUST ALSO PURCHASED THE BRAND NEW SANYO VPC HD100 AND THERE ARE THINGS ABOUT IT THAT I LIKE, BUT THEN AGAIN, THERE ARE THINGS ABOUT THE AIPTEK THAT I LIKE BETTER, SUCH AS BUILT IN CHARGER, REGULAR SIZED HEADPHONE AND A/V JACK, AND IT SEEMS TO FOCUS MUCH FASTER. IF I COULD JUST GET IT TO SHOOT NORMALLY, I WOULD KEEP THE AIPTEK, DESPITE THE ZOOM BEING A BIT CRAPPY COMPARED TO THE SANYO. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON? ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

JOHN

Action Hd has a red--- green--- locking square.

when you are set t otakea pic you must wait for red to turn green and then the pic is taken. We understand that part.

When Aiptek ame out with its first model the MPVr I always counted from setting up to the finish 10 seconds. as newer models came around and more fixs the snap time increased.

what happens here the cam is electronic, and the sound and shutter do not match up causing a ruined shot.

Aiptek Increased this. today on newer models now the Action HD you still have a electronic shutter and a electronic beep it may be posable that they're off and causing a bad shot or not allowing the red lock to turn green?

the MPVR+ was a machanical and electronic beep and they steered away from that today.

I would be careful on Demo's and preferre a new one. for the reason everyone handels it incorrectly kids adults etc, and even though it looks awesome it may be just that used beyond new

I rendered some of my Aiptek Action HD videos to a cartoonish look using VirtualDub and my own conglomeration of filters. I posted a separate thread on it here:

My Vimeo cartoon album is here:

Please let me know what you think. Do you like them? Do you think they are lame, etc..

Please post any suggestions or comments. I do not think I will succeed in making these really look truly like a hand drawn animation.. however, I feel some of these are as close as we can get without actual rotoscoping.

Thanks for checking it out!!!

P.S. You might find downloading the originally uploaded file looks better in many cases than the one Vimeo reencoded.
