Anyone notice the brick work...? Laid by a righty laying left to right......
wished they had this video of the rotating wrench or whatever that is, for the Jazz 178.
It really shows where a digital limitation lies. The change between slow motion and fast motion. I guess giving a fluid image on a digital camera would use up too much cpu and bandwidth.
I do have to say that for the $99 cams, the threshold between low motion, and fast motion is set a bit too low.
That's why video's look pretty crappy on a digital cam when you move too fast, pan too fast, or so...
Thanks to this video I now know where to look at in buying an upgrade to my HDV178!
I still have that cam! Am pretty happy about it.
But it's not suited for party recording.. Too much noise, and too little fluid motion.
This cam is good for holiday video's like on the beach, or filming outside monuments and places.

seems like with sony vegas 9.0 the Jazz 178 video format is not supported anymore?

When importing it just show the sound file. I know in vegas 8.0 I had no issues.

It looks like another clone of the Jazz188 has been released by HP. It is the
HP V5040UA. It seems to have the same specs ,NP60 battery and extras. Just saw the specs and pics at Tiger/CompUSA/Circuit City. Available in black or blue as H24-7372 or H24-7373.

Both the Jazz 178 and 188 are 720p camcorders whereas this is 1440x1080p.

Default Jaytech DVH24 quick review (great lowlight!)

I have written a quick review with tech info about the Jaytech DVH24 (EU version of Jazz HDV-178). I am particularly impressed by its lowlight performance that is much better than all the other mini camcorders I tried out yet:
