Hello all,

I was going to post this tutorial here on the forum, but alas I couldn't get it to let me insert images, so I have posted the tutorial on my site.

The url is here http://www.thecoldtomorrow.com/vlcconvert.html

[Edit] I forgot to mention, that if anyone wants to mod their Camera, or just needs electronics components I found a great site, it's at www.bgmicro.com, I am not affiliated with the site, but I have bought from them numerous times. Great prices.

I've never had VLC either on Linux or Windows play the Aiptek files back well. There particularly the B-Frames may be the culprit. Transcodes didn't work either. What version are you running? BTW, you can type in a value for bitrate, you're not just stuck with the ones they give you. I use 12 mbps for 720p MPEG-2.

Cool, I didn't know it did that. I've been using VLC for some time now. I think I need to update. My Bit Rate only goes to 3072.

You can type in whatever bit rate you want, I didn't have to update, I am using version 0.8.6h.

Just a heads up that my AiptekUtility now supports converting the MOV files to MPEG2 videos. There are options for DVD-formatted files, and some HD options as well.

Here's the thread:
