Kodak Zi6 Might Be Best Pocket Camcorder Yet

My lab assistants and I have done more scientific research in the field of cheap-bottom camcorders than anyone we can name off the top of our heads.
Really? Then show us the results. We need facts, not words...
While it may not always be scientific, I think this forum easily beats all others when it comes to comprehensive information coverage on cheap solid state camcorders. Especially thanks to the hard work that fishycomics amongst others puts in.

Kodak also announced an M-series camera, which are lower priced than the V series like my V1073 (now $229+), with Optical Image Stabilization and HD video . Not sure of sensor size.

FYI, A summary of some of Kodak's upcoming CCD technology advances can be found at
http://johncompton.pluggedin.kodak.c...sp?item=624876

But an 1/4.5 inch sized CCD array?? Wow - Kodak getting low light performance out of that would be paradigm-shifting...

Well, as a new Koday Z1275 owner, I can say that Kodaks quality has GREATLY improved over a few years ago. SO I am anxiously awaiting this new KodaK Zi6. It could be a real winner. If it produces anything close to the video quality of my Z1275, it will blow the Aiptek out of the water. Just hope they did not go cheap on this thing, but from the pictures and things I have read about on the net so far about it, it looks to be a good quatliy Kodak.

Too bad they forgot the external microphone input. It would have made this a killer product.

Actually, Private Idaho, there is an extra level of "too bad" there:
1. Too bad it is only mono
2. Too bad they forgot the ext mic socket

This camera does have AAC, unlike the U-law of their other cameras.

Still, the mono mike on my V1073 does sound really good, and I haven't managed to overload its auto level control. I use a pseudo-stereo VST plugin in post-prod to make it sound 'better'.

As a Kodak V1253 owner who purchased it from Best Buy in March 2008. I had to send it back in to be repaired already when the CCD censor gave out. Hopefully they can fix it soon. It worked great while it lasted. That was not long though.
