Hi all.. I am new to the whooooollleeee digi cam scene..

So my first cam ever is a Aiptek AHD+ Ordered off Ebay..

I know the zoom is not supposed to be great on these, but in all video modes, I have a very distracting "artifact" that shows up large in zoom and is barely noticeable normally with my new cam,.

Any comments or suggestions on this ?

Thanks!!

Oh, and also, any suggestions on cleaning the lens? Or what to do / not to do would be great!!.

I am concerned about the artifact however.. and wonder if it's par for the course with these cams, or what..

Welcome aboard Eron.

a sample will deffently help us answer your question, and to show us what you are talking about.

1. Ebay, new item and a plastic container shipped to you, was it totaly sealed?

2 You are saying , it may be on the Outer lens protection, or think it is on the sensor lens?

3 the outer cover will pop off just incase dust gets inside to clean?

added note. my mistake the Action HD is a pop off not the A-HD series

Thanks for the welcome!

I have tried to attach a sample.. If this doesn't work, I will record one asap and attach it..

Yes it was ebay, brand new.. And it was sealed plastic. I don't think it's the outer lens because it looks clean to me, and I used a micro fiber cloth to make sure.

So the outer part does pop off?

Also, where could I send a sample? Space is too small to attach!

Thanks!

Try these file sharing sites:

www.megaupload.com
www.rapidshare.com

or HD video site

www.vimeo.com

I have one dust particle behind lens, but it doesn't bother so much.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=01DBQO3H

Here is the sample.. It's taken at DVD 60 mode to make it small and sweet..

As you can see , it's a simple shot of my monitor with a white screen.. Look to the lower right area of the shot.. See that black spec..

Thank you Eron, we all are curious, and hope you got a great deal? only ask b/c sometimes Ebay members will do good or bad, I got a steal of a deal with my Action HD:G

let me appologise I may have read this to fast and had my mind on real important family matters.

the A-HD and Plus you'll need to open up, and take apart.

Sorry Fishy, what are you saying? I should take the cam apart? Did you look at the sample? does it look like something I can blow off the lens?

Thanks!!

Enron sorry I may be out of it today :Gpersonal matters, butI am always helpful.

1 the A-HD or Plus will have to be taken apart, for the lens is not removable like the Action orGO-Hd series. I pointed to a video for the removal of the cam to show how easy it is to do.

that is a spec, it shows as a pixal, since we can only comment while online, and not in person you may need to look at the sensor outside if dust or dirt came in over the lens

the lens or senser may have it.

Thats ok Fishy, I really appreciate the help!. I hope everything is ok! I wish you the best with your personal matters!!

Ok, so you see the speck.. Excellent! lol.... I don't think the speck is on the outside because I've tried cleaning it with a micro fiber cloth as well.. And it looks clean to me. I didn't see the link you posted for the dissassembly of the AHD..
