I doubt it because the full purchase price of the Magix versions is usually the same as the upgrade price of other NLEs.

Magix -- based on what I've seen -- offers a very powerful NLE at literally half the price or lower.

The version 15 Plus -- probably due next Spring -- will probably feature MULTICAM.

That's a pretty high end feature.

My copy of Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 arrived. The MPEG-2 and Dolby Stereo Decoder were free to activate but the MPEG-4 wasn't and costs $4.99+tax although I managed to get it free since you have to register to get the activations. When you register they give you a $5 coupon code which I used for the MPEG-4. So now I'm ready to go.

MPEG-4 is FREE with the Magix 14 "Plus" version.

You must've bought the Magix 14 "classic" version; that would explain why you were asked to pay for MPEG-4 functionality.

Well I got it free in the end anyway so I can't complain. I didn't see the need to purchase the plus version as the regular version has more than enough features for my purposes. I don't tend to do a lot of editing anyway. I mainly only edit birthday's etc for relatives.
