Well, at first no. I was in walmart yesterday and got one for my mother since her birthday is today. "I seen they dropped the price on them by $20." When I went to sether's up I check the firmware info on it and noticed it was already 1.5 and had a 1200 mAh battery compaired to my 1000 mAh. So, since mine was about 10 days old I used walmarts 30 day return policy and got another one. I notice that the only thing different is the lib base in the firmware .

Things i notice about this new ones.

1. it seems to handles rolling shutter better "i'll retest it and try to clone fishy's example. I couldn't find my 4-way like fishy used. but ,i used a lawn mower blade and it looked like the sanyo's example in fishy's test. I'll set it up in bright lighting and use my 4-way when I find it to be sure on that test."

2. colors are more natural "red colors"

3. zoom is quieter

4.it doesn't get as hot while using it using it

Almost forgot , Thanks alot fishycomics

I'm going to the international food fest in pittsburgh today and will be testing the cameras out while there.

the Go isa 720P model what you and others described is exactly that. the Action is the Go but 1080P so that FW is the same if realy examined closely in its ways.

why Aiptek or the Unknowned company cannot get it right on the first model, and pass it correctly to the newer ones is beyond me.

enjoy your feast - bring some back here for us.

Do you think that there is any way to identify the newer version in the store? What do you mean by "base is different", does the camera look different? Thanks,

sorry, that base reference was a unfinished thought, hehe

I'll fix the post. my bad

I couldn't tell till i got it out of the box. But since walmart doesn't hassle you about opening it . I'd ask a asscociate to open to check. I'm guessing and only guessing the new ones have the 1200 mAh battery and would have the 1.5 firmware.

Greetings:

So where does one download the new Firmware 1.5 for the Action HD?

And what is the procedure to install a new firmware in a Camcorder.

Regards Robert

I guess if you contact aiptek and explain you have 1.3 version they will give you the 1.5 one.

I lucked out and got another action hd and noticed it had the 1.5 installed and a bigger battery. So, I returned mine to walmart"it was 10 days old" and got another and it had the 1.5 and larger battery plus walmart did the price match since it was $20 dollars less than when I got my first one.

With the money I saved I ordered the 1800mAh battery
