Hi,
to see the quality of the Z600 cam
download the original 25 MB Quicktime MOV clip from over here:

http://www.vimeo.com/1753620

and watch it on your 1920 x1200 screen monitor
in fullscreen mode.

The picture resolution is almost perfect. You can see many small
fine details, also in the background.

Okay, the colors could still be better,
but with these CMOS chips you need to
tweak the brightness settings during recording
inside the camera, which was probably not done here yet.

It is the same with my AIptek AHD200 camera,
where you have to set the recording sensivity to
-1 all the time to not get overexposed videos.

Especially the bright lights on the police-car are
overexposed.. So maybe it would be beneficial
to use an UV-blocking lens to help against
the overexposure from the sky and bright lights.

Has anyone tested an UV-blocking lens adapter yet with
this camera.
And please somebody post an example movie in 1080p
of the zoom and the focus lock.

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

Hi there,

I've been visiting this forum for a few months now... I've been reading all this much helpfull information you all post here, but now I decided to join and start posting some of my findings.

I've bought an Aiptek AHD Z600 with a regular 4Gb SDHC card, but soon realized it was not enough. I then decided to buy one of these 16GB SDHC class6 cards.

http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=260314355057

I believe the Z600 is able to work with cards up to 32Gb, so there would be no issue with a 16Gb card. WRONG...

The card works great from the usb reader.
The AHD Z600 cannot handle it. It corrupts the card, not being able to even format it. I always get a message "memory card full" from the camcorder.
Every time I insert the card into the camcorder, I then have to format it in windows, using fat32.

Can anyone post any help on this? I've already addressed this issue to Aiptek and I'am waiting for a reply.
Thanks.

1 i ask myself, how long does the battery last. 30 min 60 min and 90 min

2 I ask myself how much video can I shoot on a 30 min 60 min and 90 min

in hi def, standard def, and low def

3 I ask myself spare batterries how many 1,2,3 is enough

So 32 gig of sdhc memory is like and do not hold me to it.

6 or 12 hours of video and how many batterries 24 batteries, charging 1 per 3 hours

at a given time using a SDHC card there will be issues, and can be related to sd card formats, and theAiptek cam may not read this, the pc may not format correctly and I find sticking the sd card into a different cam will correct the issues.

I am not a fan for giant sdhc cards, I preferre to have a 4 gig card giving me in HD format 2 hours which is way more enough footage, and 3 batterries.

I do agree with what you're saying but the lab rats are like raccoons.........

First don't buy these cheapo cards from ebay and then don't wait help from Aiptek support they can't do much about this issue, there is different memory card brands in the market and all don't necessarily fit with Aiptek. Return your SD card if you can and replace it with some other manufacturers card, atleast Trancsend 8 GB Class 6 card worked with my AHD 200 camera and should work with Z600 also. Go to your local camera shop with your camera and ask which SD card fits in your camera and you like to test it before you buy it.

I take it this is not a trivial question, right?

As far as I know this model isn't sold yet in US.

Here is Z600 zoom test from Youtube, it looks like optical zoom is smooth but digital zoom isn't, it is stuttering just like my AHD200 after firmware upgrade.

fishycomics wrote: Thanks, I saw that, but isn't that a 5x optical zoom camcorder? Or is that a typo? I'm inclined to say, however, that Europe is getting screwed again, unfortunately.
