Many thanks.
I really need a 1080p zoom-in and zoom-out clip
to see the quality.

By the way, in the US the name for the camera is:
Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P High Definition Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom

It says: 5x Optical zoom.

Is this a typo or did they change the lenses versus the
European AHD-Z600 model that is supposed to be the same ?

Many thanks in advance.

Looking forward to see a few 1080p zoom clips.

P.S: Why did you sell your camera again ?

It isn't same model, because they haven't released Z600 in US yet, looks like it will be completely new model, but I guess with same cheap low quality CMOS sensor. Making more lenses to allow more zoom doesn't necessarily make it better if it is done cheaply and of course it is, because it is main trend in these days.

Hi hartiberlin,

Like Quenaelin said it's a different camera. Well they look the same on the outside but inside is different. 5x optical zoom with largest aperture at F3.6 and Z600 has 3x optical zoom with largest aperture at F2.8. CMOS sensor is the same. There are probably other minor differences. Oh yeah the GVS - Gyroscopic Video Stabilizer and the Z600 with digital video stabilizer.

I didn't want to sell it as I like'd it very much. I had to because I'm a bit short on cash to finance my super duper monsta hybrid camera, the Canon Powershot SX1 IS. I can't wait for this camera to be released here in Denmark:-)

Oh and btw I cannot find that zoom testing clip you were asking about. I think I've deleted it:sad:. There are very few Z600 owners here on this forum so you should try searching vimeo.com.

I think about changing my GO-HD+ to Z600.
Sound noise, picture noise, loud focusing - I know that for Z600 these problems is fixed. But brightness and colors is nice for low light scene (for hybrid) seems to me.
Most indoor videos taken with GVS and Z600 from Vimeo seems less vivid and accurate to me.
Please take a look at source of http://vimeo.com/2985770 and say me is it right decision? Do I get at least similar picture with Z600 or indoor shots will be darker or worse at all?

Hi Paul,

As a previous owner of a Z600, I would say the it's overall a better camera. But all Aiptek's and others for that matter, have "washed out" colors at low light. If low light video recording is important to you, you should consider either the Flip Mino HD or the Creative Vado HD. Both do considerably better than most cameras in low light conditions. Audio seems to have improve from earlier version, but I don't know how they compare to Z600 and GVS.

Search vimeo or youtube for test clips.

Thank you, adalfa!
MinoHD and others mini-cams have fixed focus and this is big lack for me. At all, I just need simple cam for home use, nothing more.
I am 90%-satisfied with quality of picture indoor from GO-HD, but it have several annoying things:
- audio noise
- slow and noisy focusing and zoom
- non-uniform video noise in low light
- very high minimal exposure time for photo = 1/8s
Main question sounds as: may I sure that Z600 (and Z500 too) image quality indoor will be not worse than uploaded?
http://vimeo.com/2985770 - dark room
http://vimeo.com/2950918 - different conditions

Your low light indoor and outdoor video looks ok. I don't think the Z500+, Z600 or Z700 can do much better than your GO-HD+. But you will definantly have better audio with Z600 or Z700. Both cameras have option for external microphone. So you would eliminate autofocus noise, zoom noise and clicking noise from pressing buttons. Then again the ext. mic port on these cams aren't that well either, compared to camcorders. I bet this makes you even more confused(of what camera to buy) and it is a confusing market out there.

If I were you, I would wait a bit and observe the market. Cuz it's still early and new 2009 hybrid cameras are yet to be released, and hope this will press down prices on previous models such as Z500 and Z600.

Your outdoor video of the streets in a russian city(Moscow?) is great. I've never been there, so it's nice to see through a citizen's viewpoint, than what you get by watching the news.

fishycomics- I know, i am stupid.

Autofocus works slowly and only in some zoom positions. i think its because Z600's zoom factor is 3 not 5.

Do you think that reflashing will help?
